(a call for mutual aid & solidarity) by Keith ‘Comrade Malik’ Washington
“Whether insect, plant or animal, we are all pests to the state… Creativity, Rage, Desire, and Resilience can ferment from within the worst conditions… Till the Texas skyline burns dim from the last prison’s dwindling ashes; till the last factory farm is taken over by invasive and wild beauty; till the last border crumbles under its own absurd existence; till the last ant marches on… there will be actions of resistance.”1
an excerpt from a zine; Crazy Rasberry Ants as a model for Revolutionary struggle
Revolutionary Greetings Comrades, fellow workers, and free-world allies in struggle! It is I Comrade Malik reporting in from the Texas Slave Kamp and Gulag known as Eastham-Ad-seg unit.
Many people would think that in this oppressive environment there would be an abundance of Revolutionary Minded Prisoners willing to challenge The System? Well I am sad to report that the ‘pickins are real slim round these parts’.
However, the good news is that although there is a limited quantity of dedicated ‘Freedom fighters’ and servants of the people I have been able to meet a few quality individuals; Kwanetta Harris, Mona Nelson, Sherry Nance, as well as the unbreakable Britney Galley are some of the incarcerated wimmin I have had an opportunity to work with in our struggle toward liberation.
Recently, I have had the honor of working alongside Noah ‘Comrade Kado’ Coffin on a number of projects which seek to improve conditions for humyn beings and animals (livestock) that are held captive by the state of Texas.
Comrade Kado and I are as opposite as two male humyn beings could be as far as physical appearance goes. Nevertheless, we both grew up poor and have roots in the city of Houston, Texas. This has serves as a key factor for us to join forces because we came to the conclusion that as members of the same class, we are both being exploited, mistreated, neglected, and abused by the current ruling system–The Imperialist System!!!
Many people have heard me stress the importance of Multi-Racial Unity in the midst of our Abolition Movement.
Across the United $tates and Europe we all must realize that the Theory of Multi-Racial Unity is useless without Practice!
Once Comrade Kado and I came to the conclusion that we had common interests, we then identified our common enemies and then we began to establish common goals. Goals that would not just benefit us as individuals but goals which would help a broad swath of prisoners as well as some free humyn beings.
Because we are both prisoners trapped in solitary confinement (Ad-seg) one of our main goals is Freedom!
There are some who mistakenly believe that the pursuit of freedom is an individual undertaking. This is a misconception which the Bourgeois Religious Brainwashers inside these penal settings try to force feed to the isolated humyn being who often lacks the ability to differentiate between what is REAL and what is a manufactured illusion!!
Bakunin actually does an excellent job at smashing this falsehood and illuminating the Truth. Bakunin said:
“The freedom of individuals is by no means an individual matter…It is a collective matter, a collective product. No individual can be free outside of human society of without its co-operation…”2
You see Comrades although the Movement to End Prison Slavery was birthed inside these solitary cages in Amerika, without your Mutual Aid and Solidarity our movement dies! WE MUST HAVE FREE-WORLD SUPPORT!!
When humyn beings are placed in Ad-seg or in solitary confinement for decads and separated from humyn society their freedom in reality has been literally taken away!! For anyone to say “you can be free in the midst of this forced isolation” is clearly propagating a falsehood and a lie! Comrades, I believe in God a creator if you will; but I’m certainly not free, nor am I content or happy within this modern slave kamp! Let’s examine more wisdom from Bukanin on this very topic.
“Everything human in man is the product of a collective, social labor…To be free in absolute isolation is an absurdity invented by theologians and metaphysicians who have replaced the society of humans by that of God, their phantom. They say that each person feelsfree in the presence of God, that is, in the presence of absolute emptiness,–nothingness. Freedom in isolation, then is the Freedom of Nothingness, or indeed the nothingness of freedom: Slavery.”3
Now I want you to write a letter to a prisoner at Pelican Bay Segregated Housing Unit, or Florence ADX in Colorado and ask them do they feel free!!?
The Texas Department of Criminal Injustice has recently announced that it has done away with solitary confinement.
This was a ploy and tactic by this corrupt prison agency to give the public a false perception. Administrative segregation is still practiced by T.D.C.J. and in some cases it is just as inhumane and tortuous as solitary confinement but please don’t take my word for it. As I write this essay Victoria Law is doing research for her new article about wimmin in Texas trapped in Ad-seg! Keep a close eye out for Comrade Victoria’s work it should be very enlightening to say the least.
It is understood that the ‘power’ we are fighting against in Imperialism. The Prison Industrial Complex is a manifestation of the STATES attempt to socially control the most revolutionary cross section of Amerikan & European society!! It’s no coincidence that our most advanced political elements are trapped in prison.
The Anarchist Black Cross Federation along with autonomous groupings which have formed from state to state and country to country have defined themselves strongly as supporters of our struggle which seeks to Abolish Legalized Slavery, Amend the 13th and locally in my ‘neck of the woods’ to End Prison Slavery in Texas-NOW!!!
I have found it absolutely necessary to expand our support base and strengthen our foundation.
Because I am an Anti-Imperialist as well as an Environmentalist it is only natural for me to gravitate toward the work of long-held political prisoner and freedom fighter-David Gilbert
I have come tot he conclusion that for there to be a successful Revolution in Europe and Amerika there must be an International Red Neck Revolt!!
Race is being used as a divisive tool by the ‘Ruling Elite‘ in Amerika and the U.K. The biggest fear that the Imperialist in Power have is that the masses will denounce Racism and fully embrace Anti-Imperialism & Class Solidarity.
When this is finally achieved we will collectively break the yoke that represents modern-day Imperialism.
Comrades, please know and understand that I am seeking to enter into a pact of mutual aid and solidarity with many like minded organizations and groups who are willing to aid us in our quest to End Prison Slavery!
Comrades, the dreams and aspirations of Kinetik Justice and Melvin Ray of the Free Alabama Movement are still alive!! Sean Swain and Imam Siddique Abdullah Hasan are still in the fight! Heshima Denham of Amend the 13th and I have formed an unbreakable bond of New Afrikan Solidarity. And after 45 years of incarceration, our respected elder and Comrade Jalil Muntaqim is leading the International Fight for human rights!!
I have spoken enough. I will end Part I of this series by quoting my comrade David Gilbert:
“A System of white supremacy that was historically constructed can be historically deconstructed. A key factor for whites is the tangibility of a revolutionary alternative as opposed to the more immediate relative privileges that imperialism has to offer”4
My name is Comrade Malik and I have a vision of class solidarity which transcends Race, Creed, and Gender!! Dare to struggle, Dare to win
All Power to the People!
